Why eating well is totally worth it
Sometimes I get asked what motivates me to want to eat well. For one thing, I feel *awesome* about 99.6 percent of the time when I eat well, and that’s saying a lot for someone who used to be weak, ill and out of breath pretty much all the time. I have no restraints on my activities (other than eating junk) these days, and I feel strong and can work out very intensely with no trouble — that’s a complete 180 from my old life.
But the other thing is that when I eat well and ensure my household eats healthy food, everyone benefits … including my son Alex, who’s yet to have to deal with any of the illnesses my husband and I had at similar ages. No ear infections, asthma, allergies, colic … nothing. Well, he did have the tiniest cold for 3-4 days a couple months back, but that was a blip on the radar, and it didn’t slow him down for even a minute.
Here’s a recent pic of the little guy hamming it up with a strainer and Tupperware that’s nearly as old as I am :) at my mom’s house …

If he doesn’t make this all worth it, I don’t know what does. :)

Your little guy is so cute, Jennifer! :) Makes me miss that time in my kids’ lives. Now, I deal with two teenagers. They are neat people, but not as cuddly as they once were.
Thank you again for this blog. I am so inspired by your journey. I have yet to fully commit to my own, but am making small steps towards a better, healthier future. Your comments help immensely in getting my head on straight.
And you forgot to mention how enjoyable healthy food is to EAT!! haha :) Yours is such a great testimony – especially hearing how your son has yet to be sick with anything substantial! What parent wouldn’t wish for that?!! What a cute picture, btw, and I can see you in his cute little face!
What a cute post! Thanks for sharing. It’s fun to come to your website and see what an inspiration you are. I also love ETL, but it’s awesome to see somebody else doing it, too!
