Last-minute trip
Folks, I had every intention of posting a new recipe and a couple other thoughts I wanted to share in the next day or so, but my plans have had to change.
This morning, after a long illness, my grandfather passed away, and though we knew it was coming, it’s still tough to deal with and still feels unexpected nonetheless. As a result, my husband, son and I are traveling cross-country tomorrow to pay our respects to the cantankerous old country boy who always, always had a sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his face until very recently. My grandfather was funny and spunky and truly one of a kind, and he will be missed.
I’ll be back and posting by early next week. In the meantime, eat well, everyone!

Of course it’s tough to deal with. Please accept my condolences.
Thanks so much, Linda.
I’m so sorry. :( Look forward to seeing you back here soon, and lifting up a prayer for you and your family.
Jennifer,
I am so sorry for you loss. What a blessing that you have such wonderful memories of him and got to have him around for so many years of your life. He definitely sounds like he was quite the cutie. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Thanks for our thoughts, everyone. I think we’re all coping quite well. It’s a lot easier to celebrate the life of someone who was happy nearly all the time (and was 94 to boot!). Here’s to all the spunky folks out there. :)
