Lifestyle changes and why you should skip the sweet treats

I just came across a couple articles that I found interesting.

This first article is something I’m sharing because it states the obvious:

Lifestyle changes benefit overweight kids

Just the title alone says it all, but researchers found that if kids changed their lifestyles, they got thinner and healthier. Amazing! Who’d have ever thought such a thing? :) Can you imagine that what works for adults might also work for kids? (It saddens me sometimes that so much time, energy and money are spent on studies that are so completely obvious that they need no further investigation.)

Less obvious and more interesting is the second article:

Genes remember sugar hit

In this study, researchers found that if you eat something sugary, your genes literally remember this for up to a couple weeks. Now, I’m a huge advocate for knowing your personal trigger foods (sugar happens to be my biggie) and staying away from them entirely, and this justifies that even more. If your genes know (and thus predispose you to be more vulnerable to diet-created diseases like diabetes) that you’ve eaten poorly, that’s even more reason to eat healthfully.
