What produce should you buy organic?

Organic, schmorganic, you might say. Eating any fruit and veggies at all is better than none at all. So true, and you’ll never hear me argue anything different!

In my household, though, both my husband and I are remarkably sensitive to chemicals of all kinds, and my husband in particular reacts to the pesticides sprayed on many non-organic fruits and veggies, so we do what we can to keep our pantry as organic as possible so that we can actually enjoy our food instead of having weird reactions to it.

Not everyone can afford to buy organic produce all the time, of course (myself included!), but there certainly are foods you should try to buy organic if at all possible to avoid consuming an excess of pesticides. The good folks at Environmental Working Group have put together a handy guide that points out which non-organic fruits and veggies are highest in pesticide content — helping you prioritize which produce to buy organic or not.
