Healthy diet decreases breast cancer recurrence
Earthshattering, but true: fruits and veggies might actually be good for you! :)
Yet another study shows that the more fruits and veggies you eat, the lower your risk of breast cancer recurring.

On a side note, I wish more time was spent in the media and doctors’ offices sharing how helpful a healthy diet is in PREVENTING breast cancer rather than focusing solely on treatment. Most cancers are actually far easier to prevent than to treat, and a healthful diet is what gives your body the building blocks it needs to fight those kamikaze cancer cells.(Incidentally, most of us have a number of “rogue” cells in our bodies at any given time, and the nutrients in plants — phytonutrients — actually help our bodies defend against them, cleaning house so that the cancer cells don’t take root. Cruciferous veggies in particular come to mind.)
Plus, based on a number of long-term studies (whose names I don’t have access to at the moment, as I am currently surrounded by moving boxes full of my books and other nutritional references), lifestyle and diet are the main causes of breast cancer to begin with. Essentially, we already know that a high meat- and dairy-based diet and sedentary lifestyle are the leading risk factors for breast cancer and are far more predictive than any genetic predisposition to the disease, so rather than worry about just having bad genes, why not eat more berries, greens and beans and get your body moving more often? Sounds like a plan to me!
